How to survive with a bunch of demons on your back

1. A lot of stuff is really just happening in your head. Your subconsciousness loves to play games. The art of surviving lies in finding the fine line between what is real and what is only a game your head is playing with you.

2. There is no life with depression. There is only a life against it.

3. To rise against means to make the fundamental choice for life, or against life; for yourself or against yourself. You have to be bound to this one decision your whole life long.

4. Never romanticise the state you are in. Punishing yourself might feel so good but that only makes you a hypocrite, not a better person.

5. You can not become the person you want to be by hating the person you are today.
You need a basis to work on, so -

6. Accept yourself. In the first place its not about “self love”, its about getting along with yourself.

7. Put yourself under constant observation. And then, once in a while, step back and do some self reflexion.

8. Set some high standards BUT FORGIVE YOURSELF if you can not reach them yet/everyday.

9. You think you reached the deepest point? You did not. There always is a deeper point. Be glad you didn’t reach it today!

10. It’s always darkest before the dawn…

11. …and sometimes depression/anxiety/anger blinds you so you can not see the silver lining that is already there!

12.Life is shit. People are shit. They just are. Good or bad doesn’t exist. Don’t try to be a “good” person. Just try to be the best person you can be today.

13. Eat enough, sleep enough.

14. Make art out of your bad feelings. Write a song or a poem or draw a picture. Or go for a run, punch a wall. Whatever is your thing. Find a way to channel the pressure!

15. Stop for a second. Just breath in and out.

16. Make a cup of hot chocolate, write down what you feel and what you think. That always helps to put yourself in order.

17. To give the monster a name is the first step to fight it.

18. Be honest. A 120% honest. To yourself, to the world. No bullshit.
Even if the truth seems to be uncomfortable - it has no intentions, no temperature. It just purely exists.

19. Talk to people that might understand you. (me for example. Wherever you are right now - i have been there before. And i got out. Again and again. You will too.)

20. Let yourself be loved. Even if you feel like the most shitty asshole person ever. Especially when you feel like that.

21. You are not your mental state. There is a lot of chemical stuff goin on in you’re brain. You are more then your flaws in chemistry. Nevernevernever forget that: YOU ARE NOT YOUR FLAWS IN CHEMISTRY!

22. Life is a long, dark, slippery road. Sometimes we meet people and they walk with us a few miles. Some of those people are fuckin important then, even if you just share a short part of the road. Hold on to those people as long as you can and let them go when it’s time.

23. Healing takes time. Some people never heal, some do. It is a process, that can not be forced.

24. Every day is a new decision. Get up, take a shower, tell yourself: i am me. I am alright. This going to be a great day. (i call that “to shower conscience de soi”)

25. Don’t fight yourself - fight your demons.

26. Give a shit about what other people think.
You don’t owe anyone an explanation. At the end of the day it’s your own eyes you have to look in.

27. It’s ok to lose control sometimes!

28. Print this out. Pin it on the wall. Read it from time to time.

28. You are not alone.

29. You are not alone.

30. You are not alone.

31. Do. Not. Ever. Give. Up. On. Hope.

The Library didn’t only contain magical books, the ones which are chained to their shelves and are very dangerous. It also contained perfectly ordinary books, printed on commonplace paper in mundane ink. It would be a mistake to think that they weren’t also dangerous, just because reading them didn’t make fireworks go off in the sky. Reading them sometimes did the more dangerous trick of making fireworks go off in the privacy of the reader’s brain.
